Case Study

Data Privacy and Protection Training

Here I have created several assets around Data Privacy and Protection training, to show a more well-rounded example of my work, all on one subject. These are not actual work samples, like other items you'll find in my portfolio, it is an exercise I took on to stretch myself and practice my skills on new topics.

I imagined the client to be a large global corporation, like Alphabet or Eli Lilly, in need of compliance training for their employees. The topic of Data Privacy is important to many people with varied positions in a corporation of that size, but certain topics are more relevant to some rather than others, such as HIPPA compliance.

I used ChatGPT and Articulate's AI Assistant to help me come up with the content. It was a fun exercise, and I learned a lot about using Gen AI for content creation.

Storyboard

Data Privacy and Protection Training storyboard.docx

This is a storyboard I put together for the Rise course below. I like to use a storyboard to get a general outline with some preliminary ideas of what I might include or how I might show rather than just tell in a course. It's also the place to nail down objectives and begin matching them to evaluations, so that I know I am staying on track and hitting the mark. To me a storyboard isn't written in stone, it's a sketch. It's a starting point that is flexible enough to allow for creativity and new ideas as they come up.

Rise Course

I decided the best way to present this material would be in four mini-courses. My thinking is that smaller chunks of important information is easier to digest and would be less likely to create cognitive overload in the learners. Additionally, I thought that spacing out subtopics would provide a better opportunity for the information to be synthesized and committed to memory.

This risk you run with this methodology is people forgetting to take all of the parts or spreading them out too much and the training becoming disjointed. To mitigate this, I included a requirement to complete all four mini-courses within a 30 day time period along with a passing score on all quizzes to earn certification.

At the end of the second lesson, "Overview of Major Regulations", you will find an interactive scenario that I created in Storyline to test GDPR knowledge.
